Scanography is a really interesting medium that can serve many purposes in the art classroom. With scanography, one can explore light color, movement, and texture very easily. The results of a scan is nearly immediate, so students can experience instant satisfaction.
I have several assignments in mind for students to explore scanography
1) )Learn about your environment through scanography
- students will be brought to a nature area with the art teacher and collect items that they find on the ground
- students will share what they found and why it interests them
- students will be split into groups and scan there items
- all students share with the class
2) Explore motion and light with scanography
- students will be given flashlights and objects that they can move in the scanner
- they will play and see the shapes and movements they can make
3) create a story about things that are special to you
- students will be asked to bring a things that is special to them
- they will share that thing with the class
- I will bring additional things to scan, then students will make a narrative on the scanner with their objects and the ones in the art room
