1) Wikipedi'a scanography entry introduced me to the art of Sonia Landy Sheridan. She is the first person to use scanography in art; she started doing so in 1968.
I love these scans. They look like x-rays. There is a lot of creative layering going on that evokes a dreamy and creepy effect.
The above image touches on themes of life and death... a woman's face embracing a skeleton like face.
2)Listening to the podcast on the Act of listening ( https://www.npr.org/programs/ted-radio-hour/411697251/the-act-of-listening) gave me a lot of food for thought.
- this is a great idea that was discussed: During Thanksgiving, student is given the homework to
records a interview with an elderly interview so a whole generation can learn the broad experiences of another generation..
For a lesson plan, the class can brainstorm question ideas in class.. go home and record their interviews.. share them and make an artistic takeaway
3) podcasts are an amazing platform that allows people from all different walks of life to share their stories. By hearing these stories, people feel empathy and discover similarities about people who may seem different. It is a powerful medium.
