Tinker Cad

I had a lot of fun playing with Tinkercad. I drew this grid with the drawing tool ,and then rotated it and merged it together. In sculpture, I also imported a heart and ring from thingiverse, a really cool sharing site ! I look forward to 3d printing this.

10: final project: Dance, video, and story telling

Inspiration for stop motion:https://mymodernmet.com/stop-motion-animation/

Current Idea: Story of Cosmic Egg giving birth to strange creature that  metamorphosises through out  their life.
Creature might turn from person into caterpillar into butterfly.. cosmic egg born of sun dad and moon mom. use printmaking , painting, and charcoal and use stop motion animation or learn how to animate online.

Watched Paranorman for stop motion inspiration... it was awesome.

9/2: Scratch Blog Entry

When I first started playing with scratch, I was pretty confused. I did not know how to connect the motions with the sprites. After I was told how to do that, I had a lot of fun with Scratch ! I played around and figured out how to do some pretty neat things. I realize now that there are a ton of things that people can make on Scratch.

Scratch is a very cool and relatively simple to use interface that allows children to learn coding, design, games, story telling, and art . Here are two potential scratch lesson plans

1) Make a game on Scratch

Learn how about computer programming and gaming on scratch. Share you games with you classmates !

2) Tell a story Scratch

Learn how to tell a story though moving images and backgrounds.

8/4: Reading Takeaways

1)        I learned about the many things students can take away from learning video game design. When children create their own games, they learn about game genres, animation, perspective, motion, paths, audio design, and computer programing . Scratch is a pretty easy to use platform that allows students to make video games... I will incorporate this into my art classroom.

2)         I learned more about DIY culture. Dale Dougherty, founder and publisher of MAKE Magazine,  says "the most important thing about DIY culture is that it portrays the idea that you can learn to do anything." I think this is a beautiful quote. DIY culture should be taught to children so they know they are capable to achieving anything they set their mind towards.
This reading also reminded me of a class i shadowed at TC last year. It was Professor Burton's class and there was a visiting elementary/ middle school art teacher from Marymount school  talking about his work in his schools fab labs. He said he helped children make hair dryers and cellphones ! I was so impressed. This goes to show that if you tell children they can make anything and provide them with the proper resources and instructions then they can.

8/3: Stop Motion Lesson Plan

Figure Drawing and Stop Motion Animation for 12th graders

Learning Objective:  students will learn more about  figure drawing, drawing motion,  as well as the process of making a stop motion film.

Prompt: The goal of this project is to make a 5 or more second stop motion animation composed of charcoal drawings of a human doing an action. We still start by talking about potential actions a human could do  ( jump, dance, kick, smile, spin, run, walk, fly, etc.) Then, students will partner up and download the stop motion animation app on their phones. The will make a photo based stop motion animation of their partner doing their actions ( take pictures of every step needed to show their partner performing their action) Then they will draw every photo moment from the  photo based stop motion  in charcoal on newsprint. They will take photos of their drawings on the stop motion app to make their final product. They will see if they are missing any moments from their action and continue to draw moments that they need and then recreate the final stop motion.

Materials: cell phone stop motion animation app, charcoal, squishy eraser, newsprint

Two Way Dream Reflection

I am Really excited and proud of myself for figuring out how to make a stop motion animation video on Adobe Photoshop and After Effects...
